PRESIDENT – Bob McMillan
VICE PRESIDENT – Charlie Dedon
SECRETARY – Willard Beard
TREASURER – BC Kistler
EDITOR – Jimmy Lyon – Tel. (225) 753-4637 ([email protected])

NOTICE – The next meeting of the BRRC Club will be Tuesday, February 1 at the Greenwell Springs Road Library at 7:00 PM

President Bob McMillan called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM. He asked the Secretary to read the meeting minutes from our December, 2004 meeting.  The minutes were read and approved by all members present with one correction. He then asked our Treasurer for a report.  B. C. gave us a year end close report for 2004.  He also discussed our budget for 2005 and stated that the officers would develop one and present it to the membership at our next meeting.

Blackie was asked for a field committee report.  He said the grass was in good condition and there were still no ants or evidence of grub worms.  He said all that was needed was flyers.

Bob then asked our Safety Officer, Mike Goetzman, for a report.  Mike asked that we all remember to do our pre-flight safety check each time we get ready to fly.  He said that one of our members had recently hooked up his ailerons backwards but caught it in his pre-flight check.  Mike also asked each of us to clearly verbally communicate our flight status and runway condition.  A recent event where a pilot was trying to land a plane dead stick was told the runway was clear when it wasn’t.  He had to do a quick ground loop to avoid a collision on the runway with a plane that was still there.

OLD BUSINESS

Bob announced that Vic had collected $104.24 from the sale of aluminum cans.  These funds pay for our butane, trash bags, and some mower parts.  Who would have thought a $10 investment would yield such outstanding return.

Bob also asked if our Intro Pilots were registered with AMA.  All 3 indicated that they had received their new cards from AMA.

Bob, Vic, Blackie and A J delivered fruit baskets to the Kissner family before Christmas.

B. C. noted that David Broom, a past member and the son of the owner of Broom’s Hobby shop, had passed away.

NEW BUSINESS

B. C. informed our new officers that they need to sign the bank forms so the bank accounts will be properly registered.
Mike Goetzman suggested that we schedule our Big Bird for Saturday, May 14, 2005, and set a rain date for May 21.  He will start the paper work to register these dates with AMA.

Blackie said that he would like to schedule our next Cub Day for April 16, 2005.

Lee Boutwell suggested that we form a committee to make recommendations for the scheduling of all of our club events for the year.  He suggested that they look at conflicts and work up a schedule for our events.  Bob nominated a committee made up of himself, Mike Goetzman, Glenn Gresens, Lee Boutwell, Blackie LeJeune, and Willard Beard.  This committee will meet and make recommendations and present them to the membership for approval.

Raymond David is a new member for 2005.  He was voted and approved for membership in 2004 but waited until January to activate his membership.  Welcome Raymond!

We need to be observant for unauthorized people on the property.  Someone shot one of the Kissner’s German Shepard dogs with a rifle.  The dog was found in the field about half way between the highway and our flying field.  We should report any unknown people to the Kissner family and let them decide if they should or should not be there.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:06 PM.  After the meeting, Gene Lewis showed a video on Radio Control planes.
